This ground has a lot of clay in it, and we are approximately 15 inches of rain behind for the last 2 years, so the ground was very hard, but the cub with a 151 disk plow was up to the job.

I think one of the reasons would have been price. They would have been much more expensive than a molboard plow, plus the old disk plows really made a mess plowing sod. Yes, the cubs were rated abot 9 1/2 hp at the drawbar.
That disc plow seems a lot more efficient than a moldboard doing approximately the same depth. I wonder why you don’t see these new? Isn’t the farmall only 9-10 hp on the drawbar? Yet it’s going through that field without effort.
i got a 1955, with all the available attachments…i believe the 155 plow was a universal drawbar plow cause the farmall o.e.m for the cub is alot different. it utilizes the hydralic lift and the pitch control comes up between the fender and tire
I got my cub when I was four. I’m 13 now and I still have it. I’m going to restore it for my senior project. Maybe I’ll have videos on here of it shortly.
EXCELLENT video… All angles covered which makes is very enjoyable to watch.
The ‘ol disk plow done a damn good job. I’ve seen some moleboard plows that couldn’t do that good of a job in hard dry ground… And the Cub handled it perfectly too.
One time I watched a friend of mine pull ONE 2/14″ moleboard plow with TWO JD 60’s because the ground was so hard. It hasn’t been plowed in about 3 years and it was a real dry year also (and it was bush hoged mowed before plowing).
No its not a converted horse plow from the 1900’s its even the right color. Its clear to me its made for the cub. I have only seen the mid mounted ones in person. It stands to reason IH or another vendor would make a semi mount plow. notice its no rigged non cub implement even the steering for the trailing wheel is there and working. Its sweet the way it works, and I bet its easier to pull than my 193 even with the colter
My Dad worked for an IH dealer for 41 years, He never saw a disk plow monted on the back , always in the middle. He said that plow is from the early 1900’s.

True, but the Farmall Cub is a very small tractor. Personally I prefer a Massey 165 to do small work.

the one I have is a 3 disk reversible plow.

All those misguided people that think you have to have a new tractor to get something done need to watch this

It rotates with the forward movement of the plow.

does the disk spin or does it remain stationary on the plow?

I have a 49′, and I know they only have 10 hp, but the torque is ungodly, and I have not been in a situation where I was wanting for power.
The gearing and balance on this little beasts is perfect.
